Why is it so easy and satisfying to over-eat tasty food even when we know better? My research interests lie in exploring biological and environmental factors that mediate over consumption of palatable foods. With a background in ingestive behavior from Purdue University, I continued to examine these factors by researching the influence of physical activity on feeding at the University of Missouri. My goals in the Johnson lab are to combine my previous experience with physiological and behavioral techniques of the laboratory in order to characterize how learning may facilitate these interactions. Even outside of the lab I am passionate about making health a priority. I am perfecting my not-so green thumb skills, gardening at home as well as in community gardens. To balance out the zen of gardening, I dabble in the world of powerlifting and looking to start competing again soon.
